DOPE – NADZEYA OSTAPCHUK

Nadzeya Ostapchuk is a Belarusian shot putter who was briefly designated the Olympic Champion in 2012 but was stripped of the title for failing a drug test.

Ostapchuk was briefly World Champion in 2012, although was stripped of that title after failing a drug test.

She was World Champion in 2005 but in 2013, the IAAF reported that her drug test sample from that event had been retested and returned a positive result, so all of her titles were stripped dating back to 2005. Ultimately, Ostapchuk was stripped of Gold Medals from 2008 Beijing Olympics, 2012 London Olympics and three World Championships – Helsinki 2005, Osaka 2007 and Daegu 2011. The only major medal that she retained was Silver from the Paris World Championships in 2003

Her overall best throw was fourth best in women’s all time indoor distance, she threw 21.70m. All of her results since August 2005 have been subsequently disqualified.
