DOPE – MARION JONES

Marion Jones is an American former world champion track and field athlete and also former professional basketball player.

She won three gold medals and two bronze medals at the 2000 summer Olympics in Sydney but was later striped of these medals after declaring the use of performance enhancing drugs. Jones was also stripped of her 2001 Edmonton World Championship medals (100m, 200m and 4×100 relay) and 2001 Brisbane Goodwill Games medal for the 100m sprint.

Jones was one of the most famous athletes linked to the BALCO scandal. The performance-enhancing substance usage scandal covered more than 20 top-level athletes, including Jones’s ex-husband, shot putter C.J. Hunter, and 100 m sprinter Tim Montgomery, the father of Jones’s first child.
