HUGH GRANT

Off the back of the huge success of Four Weddings and a Funeral in 1994, Hugh Grant was a very busy man in 1995.

Five movies were released that year including Restoration starring Robert Downey Jnr (another favourite on the Fat Freddy’s Wall of Infamy) and our very own Sam Neill, Sense and Sensibility with Emma Thompson and Oscar winner Kate Winslett and Nine Months with its star studded cast including Robin Williams, Julianne Moore and Geoff Goldblum to name a few, AND he won a BAAFTA – Hugh was undoubtedly flying!

Then June 27 1995 comes around and both Hugh Grant and Estella Marie Thompson are arrested and charged with indecent conduct in California in 1995 after meeting on Sunset Boulevard.

Grant was arrested by police after apparently trying to seek a prostitute at half past one in the morning.

After being released on bail, he appeared in court on July 18th, Grant entered a plea of no contest and was sentenced to a fine and two years of probation. He appeared publicly discussing his girlfriend at the time, Elizabeth Hurley and the institute.

The bumbling Englishman managed to continue unscathed and in the below clip has a casual chat with Jay Leno – and he managed to keep it together with Liz Hurley for another 5 years until 2000 when after 13 years together they called it quits but remaining friends.
